The coverage company Howden Insurance has shared a number of ways in which tourists can save money when booking their next holiday.
With the cost-of-living crisis causing many to save money wherever possible, tourists are looking for ways to go on a getaway for less.
A spokesperson for Howden Insurance highlighted that any money saved on holiday costs can be used to buy more souvenirs or save up for another trip.
They explained: “Booking a summer holiday can be a stressful time as there are so many aspects to consider, especially when it comes to being cost effective.
“Simple travel hacks to help you save on unnecessary expenses throughout the booking process mean more spending money for your holiday, or you can even put it away in preparation for another getaway.”
First, Howden Insurance noted that travellers planning on flying to get to their destination should always try to book their journeys during the middle of the week.
Since many tourists like to start and finish their holidays at the weekends, these flights are often busier and more expensive.
The company noted that domestic flights are typically cheapest on Mondays and international journeys are best booked for a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
In addition, Howden Insurance suggested that tourists save money by booking any extras early on to avoid price rises.
Whilst many tourists will initially just pay for the basic price of their holiday, they typically leave other expenses such as airport parking or wi-fi later on.
However, booking extras and travel insurance as soon as tourists pay for the holiday can help tourists to save hundreds on the overall price.
Finally, holidaymakers were advised to book their break towards the end of the summer, which can help to save money and avoid areas being crowded with tourists.
Many travel companies allow tourists to book holidays up to 12 months in advance, with prices often increasing the sooner the date approaches.
As a result, Howden Insurance suggested that anyone that has not booked a summer holiday yet can save money by travelling at the end of August.
