The charming fishing village, nestled in the North Yorkshire Moors, secured fourth place in a survey of 160 locations across the country by FBM Holidays back in 2021.
Not only did Robin Hood’s Bay rank fourth in the Top ten prettiest UK villages, but it also claimed the same spot in the overall category for the UK’s most attractive towns and villages.
But its beauty isn’t its only draw – the village is steeped in history, particularly its past as a hub for smuggling.
However, visitors should be prepared to stay overnight to fully appreciate this seaside gem.
Its beach was named one of Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice locations for 2021, making it an ideal spot for building sandcastles or exploring rock pools.
At low tide, adventurous types can even journey to Boggle Hole, renowned for its fossil hunting opportunities.
For those who prefer to keep their feet dry, Robin Hood’s Bay sits on the Dinosaur Coast, providing ample opportunity for walks along the clifftop Cleveland Way coastal path, north to Whitby or south to Scarborough.
You can also stroll or cycle along the scenic ‘Cinder Track’, a former railway line running from Scarborough to Whitby, winding through Robin Hood’s Bay’s upper reaches.
