Putin ‘wants to get out’ of Ukraine war, claims Tucker Carlson | World | News

Vladimir Putin told Tucker Carlson he would be willing to compromise with Ukraine in an « off the record » conversation, according to the American journalist.

Putin met with the broadcaster last week for his first interview with a Western journalist since before the start of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Carlson, who was met with widespread criticism over his decision to go ahead with his chat with the Russian leader, said he believes Putin is now ready to reach a deal to end the conflict.

He claimed to have had a conversation with the Russian despot after their chat, saying: « Of course, the very work of the leaders of any country on this planet, except perhaps the United States during a unipolar world, forces them to find a compromise.

This is what is called diplomacy. And he [Putin] is in among them (leaders who are ready to seek a compromise). »
