Prince Harry‘s chances of reuniting with the Royal Family for Christmas have been torn apart by a royal commentator who claimed there is « no rapprochement in the offing » for the estranged duke and the Firm.
The Duke of Sussex has been estranged from the royals since his departure from the Firm in 2020 and move to the US that same year with wife Meghan Markle.
Despite a number of trips back to the UK this year, Harry only met with his father, King Charles, once and for a brief period, shortly after the monarch announced his cancer diagnosis back in February.
Even today, the King’s 76th birthday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not share any public message to mark the occassion. It is not known whether the duke reached out to his father privately. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle has been estranged from her father, Thomas – who’s suffered to heart attacks and a strok – since she married into the Royal Family in 2018.
Now US commentator Maureen Callahan claimed that both Harry and Meghan are « ever on the outside » of their families despite both sides going through health woes.
She told GB News: « Harry and Meghan are ever on the outside as their family members are battling these very catastrophic illnesses.
The commentaror added: « As the holidays approach, it seems there is no real rapprochement in the offing for Harry and Charles. And it’s sad. »
Meanwhile, host Nana Akua opined that the Sussexes’s behaviour towards the royals is « very ugly », adding: « Even if you liked them, things that might put you off could be the stuff where, as far as we know, she still hasn’t gone to see her very sick father.
« You can send out a thousand jams to people you don’t know and act like you care, but deep down, what is underneath that. That’s very, very ugly sort of behaviour. »
Harry and Meghan Made a series of explosive claims against the royals following their departure from the Firm.
However, they appear to have changed approach as, since Harry’s memoir’s release in January 2023, the couple have made no further comment against the royals.
After his trip back to the UK in February, the duke went on to say that he « loves » his family.
