Prince Harry‘s memoir Spare hit a humiliating milestone after it emerged as the most traded-in biography of 2024.
The bombshell book, which was first released in its hardpack edition in 2023 and in its paperback edition last October, contained several explosive claims about the Duke of Sussex’s life within the Firm.
On its release, it broke records as the fastest-selling book of all time.
But now, We Buy Book, a website that buys unwanted second-hand books, claimed Spare was the most traded-in biography for the second year in a row.
A spokesperson for the website said: « For the second year running, Prince Harry‘s Spare is the most traded-in biography of 2024.
« This year, we purchased a total of 567 copies. »
While Spare’s hardpack edition costs £28 at Waterstones, We Buy Books reportedly offered £3.38 for a second-hand copy of the book. The website currently states that it is not accepting this item and the Daily Express was not able to confirm its price.
On Amazon, the hardpack edition is listed for £14.
Meanwhile, the website offers users just 75p for the paperback version of the book, which is now retailing at £8.99, down from £10.99, at Waterstones.
This year’s record for Harry’s memoir followed another record set in 2023 when the website purchased 459 copies of the book.
On January 2023, Spare became an international bestseller, selling 1.4 million copies just on its first day in the UK, US, and Canada, according to its publisher, Penguin Random House.
However, its paperback edition, released on October 24 this year, was not as successful after selling just 1,809 copies in the UK in its first week of publication and another 3,391 the week after, according to the Bookseller.
