A Royal expert predicts Prince Harry wants to « visit the UK more », although it’s likely to be alone this Christmas.
Daily Mail Editor at Large Charlotte Griffiths spoke to GB News, sharing her belief Harry’s visit could take place over the holidays.
Griffiths said: « I do think Harry is going to come over to the UK more and more. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he came over at Christmas, but he will be coming on his own. »
She predicted Meghan Markle may not come, and floated the possibility of them spending Christmas in Portugal where he could nip over to see family.
The Duke is still engaged in a legal battle with the Home Office over the decision in 2020 to remove police protection, and previously expressed safety concerns about travelling with his family.
He said: « The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home. That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil. »
Both Harry and Meghan have reportedly been invited to spend Christmas at Althorp House in Northamptonshire by Harry’s uncle Charles Spencer.
Griffiths believes Harry isn’t typically invited to spend time with the family at Balmoral.
Their last Christmas with the royal family was in 2019, before they stepped down as senior royals in early 2020, and they had previously only celebrated Christmas with them as an engaged couple in 2017, and again in 2018 following their wedding.
Since then, the couple has established their life in California, where they now reside with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Royal expert Emily Andrews described the situation as bittersweet to Woman Magazine: « It’s a tricky time for Harry, » she said. « He hasn’t spent Christmas in the UK for six years, and he could be forgiven for feeling rather lonely and estranged from his Windsor relatives. »
