Based on sales data from a UK Laser Clinic, the Hollywood style – removing every trace of hair – was the most requested and responsible for almost 70% of sales.
This was followed by the Brazilian – otherwise known as the Landing strip – and the classic Bikini.
In a further study of 2,000 women, it was found 14% opt for a Bikini line style, 20% enjoy a gentle trim, while the same amount opt for the full ‘Hollywood’.
Commissioned by Laser Clinics, the research also found over half of women feel more confident if they’ve recently had a tidy-up down below, even if nobody’s likely to see it.
They were likely to work on their bikini lines for an upcoming holiday, or simply comfort. With 12% doing additional grooming if they were going on a night out and wanted to feel their best.
The OnePoll.com figures also showed 65% opt to shave it themselves, while 13% prefer to wax. Despite this a third said the worst thing about shaving is razor burn as well as ingrown hairs and dislike the time it takes to do so.
When it comes to choosing which style to go with half said how they style their pubic hair based on their own preferences, but a fifth also said they style it in a way their partner likes it.
Laser Clinics UK’s COO, added: “Everyone feels fresher and happier when they’ve just had a haircut – and that applies downstairs as well as upstairs.
“But regularly shaving or waxing can lead to discomfort, which is why some women prefer to opt for something more permanent.
“Something like lasering means you can’t as easily experiment with new styles if you fancy it, but if you’d rather it was just gone for good, it can be a really valuable choice for women.”
