Meghan Markle gives ‘best performance’ since marrying Prince Harry in major career move | Royal | News

Meghan Markle visited a children’s hospital in Los Angeles last month in what was her “best performance” since marrying Prince Harry, one body language expert said.

The Duchess of Sussex read three of her favourite books to kids at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on March 21 to support the Make March Matter fundraising campaign.

In a video posted to X on Tuesday, Meghan can be seen showing off her acting skills as she reads stories to the young kids.

Body language expert Judi James exclusively told Daily Express that the former Suits actress “nailed” her celebrity reading.

James said: “This might just be Meghan’s best body language performance since she married Harry. Visiting a children’s hospital she reads out loud from a selection of books and despite having to wear a mask she uses her experience as an actress and her lack of inhibitions to make the books and the stories come alive.”

James added: “Her eyes and her eyebrows become extra expressive to the point where you could almost forget the rest of her face is covered.

“Her animation is excellent, as are her vocal tone and her timing as she builds a sense of expectation and anticipation for each turn of the page.

“She enunciates in a way that helps avoid her sounding muffled and her enthusiasm comes across as contagious. Sometimes these celebrity readings can sound contrived and rather self-conscious or even patronising but Meghan nails it here.”

The video shows the children shouting and singing along enthusiastically as Meghan reads to them. The Duchess also hugged and spoke to the children following the reading.

A statement read: “Children were laughing and singing as The Duchess turned into character with every page as she read patient favourite books like Rosie the Riveter, Pete the Cat, and I Saw a Cat.”

Meghan also released her own children’s book in 2021 titled The Bench, about Harry’s relationship with their son, Archie.

The Duchess has called her book “a love letter to my husband and son.”

Her visit to the children’s hospital was part of the Make March Matter campaign – an annual fundraiser at the Los Angeles hospital that aims to build healthier futures for its patients with the help of “celebrities, business, and the greater community.”

Over $10 million has been raised for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles through the campaign since 2016.

Other notable celebrities like Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jake Gyllenhaal have visited the hospital as part of the fundraiser for a special advanced screening of Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019.
