Massive explosion rocks ‘Russian military equipment factory’ as Ukraine hit by missiles | World | News

A massive explosion rocked the Russian city of Izhevsk in the latest mysterious blast to hit a Russian city.

The location of the explosion is close to the Votkinsk Machine-Building plant – which produces oil, gas, machine tools, and military equipment, according to unconfirmed social media reports.

The moment the explosion occurred was caught in a dramatic video circulating on social media.

The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry claimed the explosion was due to « technical work » at the Voktkinsk Machine Building Plant near Izhevsk.

The news comes as Kyiv is currently being bombarded with Russian drones and missiles.

Ukraine is struggling with ammunition and personnel shortages, with long-term foreign funding in doubt as the latest effort to clinch an aid deal in the US Senate collapsed on Tuesday.

Though the roughly 900-mile front line has barely budged in recent months, Russia’s military have the upper hand in terms of missiles and artillery ammunition used for long-range strikes, which they have repeatedly used to blast civilian targets.

Volodymyr Zelensky said last month that air defense and electronic warfare systems that can stop drones are Kyiv’s top priorities.
