Fans of Marvel Rivals are counting down to the release Season 1 for the hero shooter.
Titled Eternal Night Descends, Marvel Rivals Season 1 has a January 10 release date and a 9am GMT UK launch time on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The new content will be available to access following the release of a big new update and period of server downtime.
The server downtime will take place at 7am GMT on January 10 and will run until the Season begins.
The update will make a variety of balance changes, tweaking each hero to make things more fair. Some characters will receive more base health, for example, while others will do reduced damage. You can check out the Marvel Rivals Season 1 patch notes at this link.
Outside of the balance changes, the headline feature is the release of new characters from Fantastic Four.
This includes Mister Fantastic Reed Richards, who will use his cellular elasticity to strike enemies from a distance.
Richards will also perform a powerful ground pound attack to strike multiple enemies at once.
Developer NetEase explains more: « Reed Richards has one of the universe’s most brilliant minds, but even a genius of his magnitude couldn’t have predicted the interstellar incident that bombarded his friends and family with cosmic rays, granting them each extraordinary abilities. »
Invisible Woman Susan Storm, on the other hand, can create impenetrable force fields and to make herself fade from sight.
She can also make her entire team invisible, something that will make it near impossible for enemies to strike.
« After the Timestream Entanglement, the Invisible Woman has taken full advantage of her powers, using stealth to explore locations too dangerous for her fellow heroes, especially going on rescue missions for civilians trapped by the creatures of the night, » NetEase adds.
Elsewhere, fans will be able to earn various rewards by watching Twitch streams during the first part of the season.
According to NetEase, viewers will receive the Hela Will of Galacta Spray for watching 30 minutes, the Hela Will of Galacta Nameplate for watching one hour, and Hela Will of Galacta Costume for watching four hours.
