National Rail made the following statement, it said: « Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services will be disrupted in the East Croydon area.

« Southern and Thameslink services will not be able to call at this station at short notice. There could also be some other service changes.

« We recommend you do not travel to or from this station until it reopens. However, to help you with your journey, the following arrangements are in place:

« Some Thameslink trains will call at Norwood Junction instead of East Croydon (mainly services between Brighton and Cambridge or Bedford, in both directions)

« Some Southern services to & from London Victoria will call at Selhurst instead of East Croydon

« South Croydon will be served by the normal services which call there

« You may also use your ticket on routes via West Croydon at no extra cost. This includes Southern and London Overground.

« London Buses will accept tickets in the local area, but bus routes may also be disrupted by this.

« Please leave at least 30 minutes of extra time if you need to use another route.

« Trams are not running in the East Croydon area and we do not recommend you use their services as an alternative. »
