Country with longest beach in the world that’s an incredible 158 miles long | Travel News | Travel

The longest beach in the world is nearly as long as the distance from London to Nottingham.

Located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, Praia do Cassino stretches a staggering 158 miles from the municipality of Rio Grande to the border with Uruguay.

Facing the vast Atlantic ocean, it’s miles ahead of the second longest beach which is in Australia on the beautiful Victoria coast, aptly called the Ninety Mile Beach.

Three of the ten longest beaches are in the USA, with Padre Island National Seashore in Texas at 70 miles, Virginia Beach in Virginia at 35 miles, and Long Beach in Washington which is 28 miles.

Praia do Cassino, which is Portuguese for Casino Beach, is at its warmest between December and January, while the coldest month of July still reaches a positively pleasant 16 degress due to its humid subtropical climate.

The beach is part of the Área de Proteção Ambiental de Cassino (Cassino Environmental Protection Area) with dunes, coastal forests, and wetlands, so it has rich diverse wildlife, including migratory birds, small mammals, and marine life.

The jetty struts out over the ocean where its common to see dolphins, and the large Atlantic waves make it perfect for avid surfers, attracting both Brazilian and international visitors.

Fresh seafood is the thing to eat here owing to the region’s strong maritime roots, and a stranded ship can even be seen on the beach which has been there since 1976.

Given its proximity to Uruguay, tourists can head to Chuy, a lively town just across the border.
