This beautiful beach in the UK was once mistaken for the « tropical paradise » of Kai Bae Beach in Ko Chang, Thailand.
Pictures of West Beach in Berneray, Scotland depict miles of unbroken white sand and stunning blue waters.
Lonely Planet said: « The powdery silver-white sand might feel more Southeast Asia than North Atlantic, but the chilly aqua waves, dramatic wind-lashed setting and beautifully green adjoining machair (grazing land) are pure, wonderful Outer Hebrides. »
A travel guide, in 2009, even mistakenly used an image of the beach in a piece about Thailand’s Kai Bae Beach.
It is hidden away in the remote island of Berneray in the Sound of Harris, with views of the mountains of Harris surrounding it.

It’s also considered a dog-friendly beach – but swimming is not advised for either humans or pets.
After relaxing on the beautiful beach, you can enjoy plenty of other attractions in the area, including Backhall Village, the Clach Mhor Standing Stone, the Giant MacAskill Memorial, and the Berneray Historical Society Museum.
You can also pop on the ferry to Leverburgh, an idyllic village surrounded by water.
