‘Amazing’ nature trail where you can walk under waterfalls | UK | Travel

Looking for a unique weekend activity far from the bustling pub scene? Wales is hiding a scenic jewel perfect for nature lovers looking to explore.

Tucked within the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park is a fabulous walking trail winds its way through lush scenery featuring awe-inspiring waterfalls; you can even venture behind the flowing waters for an extraordinary perspective lending the place an almost tropical charm.

Labelled as one of the UK’s hidden ‘gems’, the Four Waterfalls Walk was catapulted into the limelight following a viral social media video. Internet spectators have been left eager to experience this special spot for themselves.

The breathtaking footage was shared by UK travel influencer @thetravelpixie on social media platforms with the accompanying disbelief: « Can you believe this is in the UK? », as reports Wales Online.

True to its moniker, the trail guides hikers past four magnificent cascades Sgwd Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr, and Sgwd yr Eira.

Although it’s a three to four-hour trek that can be quite tricky due to the slippery ground, it’s undoubtedly worth the effort. Adventurers should gear up appropriately with suitable attire and shoes while treading cautiously.

Embarking from the Gwaun Hepste car park, its a mere half-hour trek to the enchantment of cascading waterfalls. You’re first greeted by the breathtaking ‘upper and lower’ falls, a stone’s throw apart yet worlds different in character.

The upper falls boast a jaw-dropping plunge that heightens the thrill, while the lower falls meander into a tranquil gorge.

Further along, past the third waterfall a historic spot for Welsh wool washing awaits Sgwd yr Eira, or the ‘waterfall of snow’. This natural marvel isn’t just a treat for the eyes; adventurers can walk right behind its veil of water for an unforgettable photo opportunity.

This exquisite trail has captured the hearts of those on TripAdvisor, soaring to a stellar 4.5-star acclaim.

An impressed visitor shared: « I didn’t expect this walk to be as beautiful and enjoyable as it was. Every so often we would turn a corner or walk down and then suddenly a beautiful waterfall in front of your eyes. It was very quiet on the day we walked (October) and this made it even more lovely. Peace and quiet passing only a couple of people along the way. I seen a photographer and I imagine his photographs were amazing. Definitely take a camera. »

Another enthusiast exclaimed: « What a beautiful extraordinary experience. Parking was so close and only £5 for the day. Lovely walk amazing scenery all well signposted and path ways for intermediate and extreme hikers…. We had the best time. »
