Prince Louis takes after cheeky young royal – and the pair are set to reunite within days | Royal | News

Prince Louis is no doubt one of the most cheeky members of the Royal Family, with the six-year-old best known at royal events for his dancing antics and comedic actions.

While his older siblings Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, nine, have also had their moments in their younger years, none have been as cheeky as the prince.

Throughout the years, royal fans have tried to decide where the prince – fondly known as Loubugs by mum Princess Kate – gets his amusing traits from, with Prince William’s cousin Earl James of Wessex being a strong contender.

While James, who turns 17 today, is now a lot more serious and grown up at royal events, this wasn’t always the case for Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie’s son.

As a child, it seems that James was cheeky in ways now being replicated by Prince Louis, which includes funny antics on the Buckingham Palace balcony and attempts to put his parents in their place.

Over the years, Prince Louis has won the attention of millions by his behaviour on the iconic Palace balcony, whether that be his sweet salute, his cute waving or his funny facial expressions. And it appears James was the same as a child, as unearthed photos show him using his hands as binoculars.

However, this is not all the duo have in common as they have also both been spotted being naughty to their parents over the years, as reported by Hello!.

In April 2014, James was pictured trying to put a live cricket down his father Prince Edward’s back during a visit to The Wild Place Project at Bristol Zoo. He was later seen the same year using a book to affectionately hit his father over the head at the women’s weightlifting during the Commonwealth Games.

This was remembered by fans after they saw Prince Louis acting up for Princess Kate in 2022, putting his hand over his mother Kate’s mouth when she tried to calm him down.

As well as both being cheeky as youngsters, the royal relatives – who will reunite next week for Christmas Day at Sandringham – are also known for being affectionate with their mums, even in public.

In December 2015, before Louis was even born, eight-year-old James was pictured touching noses with his mum as he looked up at her with affection at Ascot. While Louis is yet to attend Ascot with Princess Kate, the young royal is often very affectionate towards the princess in public, more so than his royal siblings. This was shown most recently two years ago when the young prince was spotted fondly hugging his mum at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

While these moments are expected to become fewer and far between as the prince gets older, his fond glances at his mum during her Christmas carol service earlier this month shows just how much he adores her.

Although not believed to see each other very frequently, Louis will no doubt be happy to see James as they both attend Christmas Day at Sandringham with the Royal Family this year. Now 17, it is unlikely James will be sat on the children’s table with the young prince, a tradition that has been in the Royal Family for decades.
