World’s ‘most expensive dog’ sells for incredible £4.4m | World | News

The world’s most expensive dog has sold for a huge £4.4m. The pricey pooch, called Cadabomb Okami, was snapped up by a renowned dog breeder from  India last month.

Okami, who was born in the US, is a cross between an actual wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd. Dubbed as the rarest dog in the world, the eight-month-old pup weighs 75kg and is 30 inches tall. He was bought by S Sathish from Bengaluru in southern Karnataka. The 51-year-old owns over 150 different breeds of dogs but described Okami as « extraordinary ».

The president of the Indian Dog Breeders Association said: « He is an extremely rare breed of dog and looks exactly like a wolf. This breed has not been sold in the world before.

« The dog was bred in the US and is extraordinary. I spent 50 million rupees on buying this pup because I am fond of dogs and like to own unique dogs and introduce them to India. »

Sathish stopped breeding dogs around ten years ago but now earns money from showcasing his rare breeds. Crowds pay up to £9,000 to attend events with his dogs.

He explained: « I spent money on these dogs because they are rare. Besides, I get enough money because people are always curious to see them. They take selfies and pictures. My dog and I get more attention than an actor at a movie screening, we both are crowd-pullers. »

Okami is not the first dog that he has spent millions of pounds on. Sathish also owns a rare Chow-Chow, that resembles a Qinling panda, worth over £2.5m.

He keeps all of his dogs on a seven acre farm which boasts massive 20ft by 20ft kennels. The site is constantly monitored by CCTV and bordered by a 10ft wall.

Sathish said: « There is enough space for them to walk and run. There are six people to look after them. They don’t need air conditioner as the weather in the city is cool but they are well taken care of.

« Packed dog food has steroids and reduces their life-span. I feed all my dogs raw food. Okami eats three kilogram of raw chicken meat every day. »
