A woman has allegedly murdered her boyfriend and decapitated him after claiming she caught him attempting to abuse her young son inside their apartment in Itaquaquecetuba. Police took 24-year-old Paula Ellen Neves da Silva into custody following the death of her partner, 32-year-old Daniel dos Santos. Officers say the woman later admitted carrying out the attack, which occurred in the flat she shared with her two children, aged three and six.
Investigators believe the couple had spent the evening drinking alcohol and taking drugs with a friend, who left the property approximately 90 minutes before the killing. According to police, the suspect told officers she had been lying on the living room floor pretending to be asleep while the victim sat on a nearby sofa. She claimed she then saw him attempting to open her son’s nappy.
She said she immediately grabbed a knife and stabbed him. During the altercation, the man reportedly tried to defend himself using a serrated knife, causing an injury to her hand.
Following the attack, police allege the woman decapitated the victim and placed his head inside a backpack. Investigators say she then dragged the body into the bathroom before washing the knife and partially cleaning blood from the sofa and floor.
Authorities said the woman contacted her ex-husband—the father of her children—as well as her mother and brother to tell them what had happened. Relatives told officers they initially struggled to believe her claims until she sent them photographs and footage of the dismembered body.
When officers arrived at the flat, they found the scene had been partially cleaned. The victim’s body was discovered in the bathroom with « multiple stab wounds », while his head was recovered inside a rucksack. Police say the couple had been in a relationship for around two months.
CCTV footage from the block of flats also captured a third individual, identified as Samuel Christian Silva Santos, at the property prior to the incident. He later gave a statement to police, saying he had not noticed anything unusual.
The woman was arrested and questioned by Civil and Military Police. When asked by the Alô, Você news programme whether she felt remorse, she replied: « I would do it all again. »
Detectives say the case has been recorded as aggravated homicide, procedural fraud, and concealment of a corpse.
Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing and say there is currently insufficient evidence to support a claim of self-defence. Prosecutors have requested that her arrest be converted into preventive detention. The investigation remains ongoing.
