Those patiently waiting for summer to arrive around may be in luck as the UK prepares for temperatures to soar in the coming weeks. According to new weather maps by WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, the country could be in for period of unseasonably hot weather on April 9.

In less than a fortnight’s time, temperatures could shoot up to highs of 22C in London – forecast to be the hottest part of the UK. Elsewhere, it could reach 21C in the East of England, bringing sunshine to those in Norfolk and Suffolk, and other areas along the coast. It could be slightly colder in the Midlands, with the mercury hitting 17C in some areas. But the North East will not be fortunate enough to experiece the much warmer weather, the weather maps suggest, with temperatures likely to struggle to get into double digits. In a new weather forecast for the period, the Met Office said temperatures are likely to be « near to or slightly above normal. »

The forecast for the period from April 2 until 11 reads: « A broad northwest to southeast split is expected across the UK during this period.

« The northwest is likely to be more unsettled with low pressure systems moving in at times, bringing showers or longer spells of rain. Strong winds are also possible, particularly along coasts.
