UK snow maps show huge barrage in south of England with 47 total counties hit | Weather | News

UK weather maps are forecasting a huge wave of snow hitting counties across the country in England, Scotland, and Wales.
According to WXCHARTS maps, formed using Metdesk data, snow is set to fall as far south as Dorset in the south and as far north as the Scottish Highlands, with much of Wales also blanketed. The maps show much of the UK covered in white and purple on Wednesday, March 12.

In recent days, weather conditions have warmed up, but this could be brought to an end with WXCHARTS forecasting snow to fall quickest on the border between Scotland and England. Much of the south east of England, as well as Cornwall and Devon to the west, will be spared of the wintry downpour, according to the maps.

In Wales, only Pembrokeshire and Anglesey are forecast to dodge the snow. In Scotland, parts of the west coast, such as Argyll and Bute, are among the areas that will miss out on the predicted white barrage. The Met Office’s forecast predicts « wintry showers » next week.

The service says that, over the next 3-5 days, rain will spread southwards and bring with it colder and cloudier conditions for the new week. The Met Office adds: « Occasional sunny spells on Tuesday and Wednesday, mixed with a few wintry showers. »

Looking forward to the rest of March, the Met Office says that the period between March 13 and March 22 will see showers hitting eastern areas of the UK.

However, this period will be characterised mostly by dry weather with a touch of rain in the south. The latter half of this period will see strong wind and rain, mainly in the north and west.

The final week of March will see changeable weather « periods of unsettled, wet and windy weather interspersed with some drier and brighter spells », the Met Office says.
