A UK parcel company has entered liquidation, with directors moving to formally wind up the business. Winn & Pepworth Limited, which operated in the parcel courier sector, has gone into Members’ Voluntary Liquidation. The firm is based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, at Chester House, Lloyd Drive. The process began on March 25, when members appointed joint liquidators to oversee the closure of the company. Paul W Barber and Paul Stanley, both of insolvency firm BTG Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP in Manchester, have been named as liquidators. According to The Gazette, notices to creditors were given on April 2.
The company provides parcel delivery services, a sector that has seen rapid growth in recent years driven by online shopping demand. A Members’ Voluntary Liquidation typically means the company is solvent, with directors choosing to close it in an orderly manner rather than due to financial distress.
The liquidators will now handle the winding up of the company’s affairs, including settling any remaining obligations and distributing funds to shareholders.
According to Companies House, the business has been operating since 2002.
It comes after Pedal and Post, an Oxford-based cargo company, formally appointed liquidators just weeks after the business was closed down in January.
The courier service was known for delivering parcels by bicycle, but residents in Oxford reported delays in delivery to several parcels since the end of January, with some missing for « well over a week », according to reports from This Is Oxfordshire.
A total of 60 employed and self-employed Pedal and Post team members across Oxford and London have lost their jobs in the company’s collapse.
