Large parts of the country could be enjoying temperatures of around 15C in just days, new weather maps suggest. Forecast data collected by wxcharts.com suggests a balmy mini-heatwave could arrive soon, with a vast swathe of southern England enjoying top temperatures in the mid-teens.
By 6pm on March 20, major cities across the country, including London and surrounding areas, Birmingham, and Newcastle could could see the mercury rise as high as 14 and 15C.
The warmer conditions could return the following day with highs of 16C in parts of the East of England and elsewhere by 3pm on Friday, the maps suggest.
The forecast suggests 10 regions could have areas enjoying at least 15C at some point over the two-day period.
These include: Scotland, North-West England, Yorkshire and the Humber, East of England, South-West England, South East England, Greater London, the East Midlands and the West Midlands and Scotland.
Meanwhile, temperatures in areas along the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland could rocket up as high as 23C, according to the current maps.
The Met Office‘s current three-day forecast, covering Wednesday, March 19 to Friday the 21st, predicts conditions will be « Generally fine and settled midweek with plenty of sunshine and feeling warmer by day, although still with night-time frosts.
« Likely to turn more unsettled from the south during Friday, » it adds.
The national weather service’s forecast for this evening and tonight anticipates clearer skies « continuing to filter further northwest throughout the night, although the far northwest probably staying mainly cloudy ».
« Widespread frost developing away from the far south where it remains breezy, » it adds.
Tomorrow, a « cold and frosty start will give way to a largely sunny day for many », the Met Office continues, on its website.
« Breezy for some exposed coasts and more widely in the southwest, » it concludes.
