Kevin O’Sullivan was joined by commentator Kinsey Schofield on Monday’s edition of TalkTV to discuss the latest debacle in the royal fold. It comes amid reports Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have been told they cannot join the Royal Family at Ascot this year amid concerns about the unfolding scandal involving the House of York and their ties with Jeffrey Epstein.
Sources reportedly told the Mail On Sunday, the move is said to have « completely blindsided » Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, who are already reeling from the arrest of their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Both sisters will not take their seats in the Royal Box at the prestigious horse-racing event in June, nor can they join senior royals for the Royal Procession.
Kevin remarked: « Harry and Meghan were offering their support to Beatrice and Eugenie – we’re hearing that has been removed. They’re not backing them anymore, nor are, William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales.
« They’re particularly cold towards these two girls. Now, we know the King has let it be known to them that they will not be welcome at Ascot this year. They will not be welcome at royal events going forward. »
His show guest reacted to the shock move as she shared Prince William‘s two-word suggestion.
Kinsey said: « What I think is interesting – they say in November the York women turned down Prince William’s suggestion to do an ‘ethics check,’ on their personal investments.
That’s when Prince William began to be concerned about their presence. »
She continued: « William believed they potentially may have involuntarily involved with some of their mother and father’s shady business people. He wanted to protect them by offering them this ethics check to be ahead of any scandal that could come to fruition. »
It was reported by the aforementioned publication that the sisters had declined.
Beatrice and Eugenie that the royal ban is part of a wider decision to exclude the Princesses from all public-facing events for the foreseeable future.
A source told the publication: « I’ve spoken to my friend who works at Ascot and they said the girls have been told they can’t be there this year.
« Beatrice has taken it the hardest. She’s been completely blindsided by all of this. »
