The White House has taken the unusual step of releasing a news article begging Donald Trump’s supporters not to lose faith in the president. Titled ‘Don’t Be a Panican. We’re Winning — and We’re Not Slowing Down’, the article seeks to highlight the administration’s successes over the past year, pointing to crime rates and the exploits of immigration officials.
It also turns its ire on “the Fake News and Radical Left,” who it accuses of colluding “to distract, depress, and divide.” It said: “While the Fake News and Radical Left collude to distract, depress, and divide, they’re simply lying to mask the undeniable truth: America is safer, stronger, richer, and more secure than at any point in decades. Don’t take the bait.
“New victories pour in daily as President Trump delivers on his promises and rebuilds the foundation for long-term success in the greatest nation on Earth.”
The article points to a range of policy successes, including stock market performance, falling crime rates, the banning of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minors, decreased average rent prices and “an unprecedented ninth straight month”, with “ZERO illegal border crossings at the southern border.”
It concludes: “These wins aren’t happening by accident — they come after President Trump lodged the most productive first year of a presidential term in modern history — and aren’t happening by accident.
“President Trump promised to Make America Great Again, and he’s delivering bigger, faster, and harder than ever before.
“The momentum is unstoppable. Don’t be a Panican; America is winning again — and more victories are coming.”
It comes as President Trump’s opinion ratings continue to flounder amid controversy over the killings of protesters in Minnesota and videos of the Obamas posted on his social media account, where he was accused of racism.
A recent poll, conducted before Trump was forced to delete a video with a picture of Barack and Michelle Obama on an ape, found that the majority of Americans believed that Trump’s first year in office was a failure.
Even amongst demographics where Trump performed strongly in 2024, with non-college-educated voters, Hispanics and people of colour increasingly turning away from the president.
CNN polling expert Harry Enten said: He is underwater by nine points. That’s a 23-point switcheroo with his base of non-college voters. He is absolutely collapsing with the group of voters that helped put him into the White House.”
He added: “What we’re dealing with is a Donald Trump message that is not actually meeting the reality, and that is why non-college voters have been going away from the president of the United States and going away from Republicans as well. »
