Tourists who adore Madeira and Canary Islands will ‘love’ gorgeous little country | Travel News | Travel

Europe boasts numerous beautiful destinations, many of which remain unexplored by holidaymakers. As many as there are that remain hidden, there are plenty of spots that draw in millions of visitors every year, with a significant number of people even returning to the same spots year after year.

The Canary Islands have to be one of the most popular holiday options for UK holidaymakers, with more than 5.7 million flying to the sunny islands every year. Portugal’s stunning archipelago, Madeira, is another popular choice among Brits, and rightfully so. Both destinations offer sun, sea, and stunning beaches, everything you want for the perfect getaway. However, there is one other destination that offers everything and a bit more, yet remains underrated.

Montenegro, Croatia‘s quiet neighbour, boasts rugged mountains, stunning medieval villages and a lovely strip of beaches along its Adriatic coastline.

While the Balkan country has become one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations, boasting 2.3 million visitors annually, it can still be overshadowed by other destinations. However, it might actually be a better alternative for some of the most popular European spots.

Budva, a coastal town which is one of Montenegro’s most popular resorts, is renowned for its beaches and vibrant nightlife. Those who enjoy a trip to Gran Canaria will certainly make the most out of visiting Budva, as according to Budget Your Trip, Montenegro’s beautiful seaside town is much cheaper than the popular Canary Islands spot.

Budget Your Trip wrote: « When we compare the travel costs of actual travellers between Gran Canaria and Budva, we can see that Gran Canaria is more expensive. And not only is Budva much less expensive, but it is actually a significantly cheaper destination. So, travelling to Budva would let you spend less money overall.

« Or, you could decide to spend more money in Budva and be able to afford a more luxurious travel style by staying in nicer hotels, eating at more expensive restaurants, taking tours, and experiencing more activities. »

Budva is home to multiple stunning beaches, including the popular Mogren Beach, which many praise for its magnificent scenery and clear waters.

One visitor on TripAdvisor wrote: « Mogren Beach is stunning, with clear water, scenic cliffs, and great vibes near Budva Old Town, free parking available. »

Montenegro’s beautiful landscapes aren’t limited to its beaches. Those who visit the country will have to explore the Dinaric Alps, one of Europe’s most beautiful mountain ranges, which runs along the Adriatic coast, cutting through the northern part of the country.

With around 17 hiking routes and walking trails, exploring the captivating surroundings is a must-do experience. In fact, there are numerous ways to explore the entire country, including Jeep rides, boat trips, and strolling through the old town of Kotor.

So if you’re looking for something different, then a trip to a Balkan country is worth a spot on your bucket list.
