A tiny airport located in one of the most picturesque cities in the UK has been named “one of the best in Europe” for the fifth consecutive year. Inverness Airport in Scotland has been crowned among the Best Airports in Europe that serve under two million passengers at the Airport Service Quality Awards.
The Airports Council International recorded passenger satisfaction levels from 400 airports across the world before naming the award winners, reports The Sun. Even though it is not a major European transport hub but even after it has outperformed dozens of others across the continent to win the award. Located about 8 miles (13 km) east of Inverness city centre near the village of Dalcross, the airport serves both domestic and international flights and offers a convenient gateway to Loch Ness, the Isle of Skye, and the North Coast 500.
Major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, Loganair, KLM operate from the airport, connecting the city to other parts of the world.
All the other winners in the category were Spanish airports, including El Hierro Airport, Girona-Costa Brava Airport, Pamplona Airport, Reus Airport, and Zaragoza Airport.
This marks the fifth consecutive win for Inverness Airport.
Additionally, for the third year in a row, Inverness Airport received the award for having the Most Dedicated Staff in Europe.
General Manager of Inverness Airport, Graeme Bell, told The Sun: « To win these awards for the fifth consecutive year is an incredible achievement and a proud moment for everyone involved with Inverness Airport.
