March is a great time to venture out and explore Europe as the weather starts to become warmer. The month offers the best of both worlds, where you can still enjoy some winter activities or explore the charm and characteristics of different cities. Europe is known for offering a number of great choices for city-break lovers, but with all that the continent has to offer, many incredible destinations get overlooked.
So, for those looking for somewhere new to explore and wanting to get away from the crowds, there’s one underrated destination that is not only beautiful but an absolute hidden gem that’s well worth visiting.

Travel blogger Andrea Anastakis shared 17 spots on her page, Rearview Mirror, that she recommends to holidaymakers, including one city she noted is home to « one of the most colourful towns » in its region of the world.
Sighisoara in Romania is a stunning city steeped in cultural and historical heritage. The Romanian city is particularly known for its medieval town, which UNESCO has listed as a World Heritage Site since 1999, and for being the home of Vlad the Impaler.
Despite being widely recognised, it’s yet to reach the top of people’s bucket lists, and according to Ms Anastakis, next month is the perfect time for travellers to finally pay more attention to the city.
She wrote: « Visiting in March means you’ll be able to explore Sighisoara’s winding alleys, climb its iconic Clock Tower, and learn about its fascinating past at a quiet pace, free from the crowds of the high season.

« Take the time to learn about Sighisoara’s important history. I highly recommend getting a guide while you’re there to get a local perspective on the town. »
The city’s clock tower is one of its most prominent landmarks due to its historic value. Visitors can climb the 210-foot-tall tower and enjoy panoramic views of the area.
It also has a museum with themed rooms, including archaeology, ethnography, fine arts, ceramics, furniture, and one with a collection of antique clocks.
Rated 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor, those who have gone have been left blown away after their visit.
One person said: « This is a unique experience especially because of the narrow stairs that you need to climb to get on the top of the tower!
« It’s amazing that there is also a little museum inside and the view from the top of the tower is breathtaking! This is one of the places you must visit when coming to Sighisoara! »
Another wrote: « A must visit in Sighisoara. Whether you are interested in museum stuff or a magnificent view, it got you covered. It has quite some stairs all the way up, so be prepared to do the climbing. »
