A small Asian country is becoming increasingly popular with tourists and is known for its fascinating museums, amazing waterfront views and host of dining options. The temperature is also expected to hit a whopping 41C this week which makes it perfect for Brits trying to find some hot weather.

Qatar, which has a population of 2.26 million, is just over an hour away from Dubai on a plane. It’s located on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula and is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. The capital Doha, which was established as a city in the 1920s, has experienced rapid growth and development in recent years, funded by Qatar’s wealth. As well as these modern advancements, visitors also have the chance to immerse in age-old traditions and culture.

One of main attractions in Doha is the Corniche. The seven kilometre waterfront promenade offers amazing views of the modern skyline and is a popular spot for walking and events.

 

The National Museum of Qatar is also popular among tourists. The immersive museum tells the story of Qatar and its people from its beginning to today. It gives a voice to Qatar’s heritage and culture and also outlines its aspirations for the future.

 

The Museum of Islamic Art is also a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It is located on the waterfront and includes an art collection spanning 1,400 years.

 

Doha also boasts the Doha Sports City. The international sports destination includes the Khalifa International Stadium, the Hamad Aquatic Centre and the Aspire Dome.

 

According to BBC Weather, the temperature will reach 41C in the Qatar capital this Friday. There is also minimal rainfall in Doha across the winter months.

Doha has a number of outstanding reviews on TripAdvisor. Tourists have praised the city as an « up and coming » place to visit.

One visitor said: « Doha is exciting, a capital of a very small country – Qatar. The city organisation is very good, more importantly the people here is very cooperative with foreigners like me. »

They added: « Doha has very many resturants of various tastes. Myself an Indian, I have never been short of Indian tastes in Doha. There are plenty of Indian restaurants with pure Indian tastes.

« It’s a wonderful place for children too. There are scenic beauties, seaside, Corniche where you can spend quality time with your family. »

A second person wrote: « Qatar is an up and coming tourist result as the gas and oil is really putting Qatar on the map. »
