Kleftiko, a hidden cove with towering white sea cliffs, is one of the most picturesque spots on the island. Accessible only by boat, it’s a must-see for anyone seeking breathtaking landscapes and a relaxing atmosphere.

Milos also boasts a rich history and culture, being the very place where the iconic Venus de Milo statue was discovered.

Its mining history, dating back to ancient times, is evident in its rugged terrain and numerous old mining sites, providing visitors with a glimpse into the island’s unique heritage.

Visitors can also explore the island’s charming fishing villages, where colourful boat garages, known as “syrmata,” are carved directly into the rocks.

The village of Plaka, perched high above the island, is particularly famous for its cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and spectacular sunset views.

For those seeking authentic Greek experiences, Milos is home to a variety of excellent seafood tavernas, where you can enjoy fresh local dishes such as octopus, calamari, and grilled fish served with local olive oil, Greek salad, and fresh bread.

“The best time to visit is May through October,” Anapliotis suggested, with May offering a perfect balance of mild 24C temperatures, according to NOAA, and fewer tourists.

September is also an ideal time for those hoping to avoid peak-season crowds. With 26C weather, warm waters, and a more peaceful atmosphere, it’s a great time to relax on the beach or hike.
