It means Tottenham are still without a win in the Premier League this season, with the north Londoners hovering just above the relegation zone. It’s a precarious position for Spurs, who just last season finished just above the drop in 17th place.
Not only did the Spurs board sack Ange Postecoglou – who also delivered the club’s first trophy since 2008 – but they have also been investing heavily into the squad. Xavi Simons was the club’s marquee signing in the summer, while Mohammed Kudus also put pen to paper on a move.
However, it was another one of Spurs’ summer signings, Joao Palhinha, who was the first to send a message to the departing Frank. In an Instagram post, the Portuguese midfielder posted: “Thank you for everything coach!”

Spurs now have a bit of time to sign a replacement, given they are next in action on Sunday, February 22, when fierce rivals Arsenal make the short visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It means Tottenham will have a different manager in the dugout for the third consecutive north London derby.
A statement from the club announcing Frank’s exit read: « The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.
« However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
Tottenham do find themselves in the last-16 of the Champions League, having secured an unlikely top-eight finish. They’ll play one of either Juventus, Galatasaray, Atletico Madrid or Club Brugge when the knockout brackets are confirmed later this month.
