A family friend recently told the Daily Mail that Fergie travelled to Zurich in December and stayed for at least a month at her favourite £13,000-a-day lakeside wellness clinic, Paracelsus Recovery. She previously travelled there last July. The friend told the publication: « Nobody would know she was there apart from staff. It could not be more private. She always feels at home at Paracelsus, especially when she feels at her most vulnerable. » Sarah was pictured at Cork airport in February, whilst apparently visiting Ballyliffin Lodge and Spa in Donegal. Another strong speculation is that she could be staying at a Spanish finca in Sotogrande near Marbella belonging to close family friend Edwina Heyes. Speaking of Marbella, Fergie wrote in her memoir, Finding Sarah, about how, during a previous crisis trip, she felt as if she had returned to « the old life I once knew » when « I had no reputation and I could simply be myself ». She could also be residing in Princess Eugenie’s home in Portugal.

Just before the recent conflict in the Middle East, there were reports Sarah had travelled to the United Arab Emirates where Sarah and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is said to have the run of a mini palace handed to them by Abu Dhabi ruler Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayhan. Royal biographer Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise And Fall Of The House of York, believes the Middle East remains the ideal location for the Duchess to lie low, telling the Daily Mail: « Most people are getting out, so what better place to stay under the radar? People in the Middle East simply couldn’t care less what Sarah has done even if she doesn’t have her Duchess of York title any more. She will still be seen as royalty and treated as such. »
