A man’s body has been found at a Stockport beauty spot this morning, with police placing a cordon around the surrounding area. The victim has not yet been identified, but police are understood not to be treating the incident as suspicious.
He was found near Marple Aqueduct, it is understood, and a witness said the area was cordoned off while a police helicopter flew overhead this morning. The man’s next of kin have been informed, though he has not been formally identified, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
The aqueduct is located between Marple and Romiley and carries the lower level of the Peak Forest Canal over the River Goyt.
