Weather maps forecast days of harsh wintry weather for the UK, showing that various parts of the nation will be hit by blizzards very soon. The maps generated by WXCharts using MetDesk data have flashed purple, white, and blue, indicating heavy snowfall and rain for the UK in mid-March.

It comes as Brits have seen the weather picking up over the last couple of days, with temperatures reaching the mid-10s. However, it appears temperatures will fall right back down around March 13, and will be joined by showery spells and snow.

Snow will begin to be seen across Scotland from March 13. However, the cold weather will intensify, with snow starting to build on March 14 and reaching depths of up to 17cm. Scotland will see the highest snow depths, with areas across the North West of England also seeing heavy snowfall.

A large spell of showers can be seen across England and Wales, affecting parts as far north as Blackpool and as far south as Plymouth. Only a small area of England will escape the rain, according to the map, which has covered the majority of the country in blue, indicating rain.

The following day, March 15, will see Scotland again, as well as more regions in England, including Greater Manchester, Cumbria, and Lancashire. Wales will also experience some snowfall, although it is not expected to be as heavy as forecast for the rest of the nation.

The bulk of it will be seen across Northern England and Scotland.

Temperatures across the few days are expected to remain below 10C, though Scotland will remain relatively cold, balancing temperatures that are below freezing and just a few degrees up from it.

The North of England is expected to be warmer by just a few degrees, though households in the region should prepare for chillier nights.

According to the Met Office‘s long-range forecast for March 9 to 18, « unsettled conditions » will be more widespread across the UK throughout mid-march. However, « temperatures should overall pan out a little above average for most areas » during the time period.
