An urgent recall has been issued for 5 types of beer in bottles and cans sold by Three Tuns due to undeclared ingredients.
Anyone who has bought an affected product is being told ‘do not consume’ them if they have an allergy to barley or wheat and instead return the products for a ‘full refund’.
The Food Standards Agency has issued the urgent product recall today, Saturday September 13, for specific bottle sizes and date ranges.
It said: “Three Tuns Brewery is recalling various Three Tuns beers because they contain undeclared wheat and barley (gluten) which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley, wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease.”
The affected products are:
Three Tuns XXX 440ml cans and 500ml bottles, all dates up to and including 08/2026
Three Tuns Cleric’s Cure 500ml bottles, all dates up to and including 08/2026
Three Tuns Stout 500ml bottles, all dates up to and including 08/2026
Three Tuns Best 500ml bottles, all dates up to and including 08/2026
Three Tuns Solstice 500ml bottles, all dates up to and including 08/2026
A recall notice issued by the firm says: “We are recalling XXX, Solstice, Cleric’s Cure, Best and Stout bottles and cans due to incorrect allergen labelling. All container, pack sizes and best before dates up to and including 08/2026 are affected.
“The best before date can be found on the neck (bottle) or on the rear (bottle and can) of the container, below product description.
“If you have bought bottles/cans of XXX, Solstice, Cleric’s Cure, Best or Stout as detailed above and you have an allergy to barley and wheat, do not consume it.
“Instead, check if you have bought the affected products best before dates up to and including 08/2026. Take a picture of this notice or writing down [sic] the best before dates for reference at home.
“Return the products to us for a full refund.”
The FSA added: “If you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease, do not consume them. Instead return them to Three Tuns Brewery for a full refund. For more information, please contact Three Tuns Brewery at hello@threetunsbrewery.co.uk.”
