The BBC left viewers in shock during the Scotland v Wales Six Nations clash as Blair Kinghorn was shown vomiting on the field. The full back delivered a player of the match display in his side’s 35-29 win at Murrayfield, scoring twice as the hosts ran in five tries.
But his afternoon wasn’t simply defined by his attacking contribution. Midway through the second half, he was receiving treatment for a knock when he knelt down before being sick on the pitch. Unaware of what was coming, the Beeb showed the incident live.
In his post-match interview, Kinghorn was asked about his ordeal. He smiled before saying: « I didn’t realise I was on the big screen so I’m sure that will pop up in the next couple of days. »
He swiftly changed the subject though, instead focusing on the crowd and his team bouncing back from their narrow Calcutta Cup defeat last time out. « It was really good (the performance), » he said.
« We know we should have won last week, so we wanted to come back with light revenge for ourselves. As for the fans, we love playing in front of you guys, cheers.
« France next week and it will be a massive game over there. Obviously we know they are going for the championship now so we are going to go and spoil the party. It will be a great game. »
The commentators chose to ignore the footage during the game, but viewers did not. @ek_rugby joked on X: « Two tries and a quick puke. Has been a wild ride for Kinghorn today. »
@alanahisrugby added: « Nahhh they did not have to show Blair Kinghorn being sick on the pitch. » @McnabGareth simply wrote: « Bleurgh Kinghorn. »
