Prince Philip, the beloved husband of late Queen Elizabeth II, died on this day in 2021.
The late Duke of Edinburgh died at Windsor Castle, where he was staying with his wife.
His funeral was celebrated the following week at St George’s Chapel while lockdown restrictions were still in place.
The passing of the Iron Duke was marked by the official Twitter account of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which he founded in the mid-1950s.
The message read: “Today we remember our founder, HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and reflect on the difference he made to millions of young people’s lives through the DofE – with a promise to give more young people the chance to do their DofE and discover talents they never knew they had.”
