Prince Harry teams up with ITV to air 9 new shows in UK | Royal | News

Prince Harry’s passion project, The Invictus Games, has announced that it has partnered with ITV as the official UK broadcaster, bringing nine shows of highlights to UK viewers.

The Duke of Sussex is patron of the Games which he established in 2014 as an international adaptive multi-sport event for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women.

The Invictus Games Foundation announced daily highlight shows will be available on ITVX across the duration of the Games from February 8 to 16, which will include the Opening Ceremony.

The Foundation stated: « This exciting collaboration will bring the inspirational stories and extraordinary athleticism of the Games to audiences across the UK, celebrating the resilience and determination of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans. »

Team UK Captain Steve ‘Hoops’ Hooper said: « Team UK is so excited to be going to Canada and knowing everyone at home can tune into ITV to watch the Invictus Games is brilliant news!

« We’re so proud to be representing our country – there’s a real buzz in the camp with departure just days away, and it means so much to know the nation is behind us and our family and friends won’t miss a thing! Everyone has worked so hard to get this far on their recovery journey – we promise lots of memorable moments for ITV audiences… »

This year is the first ever edition of the Winter Invictus Games. Hosted in Canada, over 500 competitors from over 20 nations are expected to attend this year and will compete in adaptive sports.

As well as the Invictus Games sports that feature at each event, including indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball, new winter sports will also be introduced.

This includes Alpine Skiing and snowboarding, Nordic skiing and biathlon, skeleton, and wheelchair curling.

The opening ceremony, set to be attended by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will take place at BC Place Vancouver on February 8.

American singer Katy Perry will perform at the opening ceremony along with Grammy-nominated Noah Kahan and Canadian singer Nelly Furtado.

The closing ceremony will then take place at Rogers Arena on February 16 and will be the only « adult-only » part of the games.

In a statement on the Invictus Games Foundation website, the prince previously wrote: « The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will offer a global platform to expand the range and profile of winter adaptive sports.

« With deep respect, I’m also pleased to share that the Games in Canada will be held in partnership with the First Nations, in the spirit of truth and reconciliation with Indigenous communities. »
