You might think you need to head to the ends of the earth for a bit of peace, but actually, there are plenty of spots right here in the UK that offer a chance for a screen-free escape. Camplify UK has created an index of places where you can switch off and relax, and one county came out on top. The Analogue Escape Index considered factors like phone reception, electricity-free campsites, places with little or no Wi-Fi and light pollution to come up with a list of locations where you can really be present in nature.
The index also considered the number of National Trust properties and parks, as well as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Coming in first place was Devon, with a high score of National Trust properties, parks and beautiful places
Scoring highly in the index for its abundance of National Trust properties, AONBs, and National Parks, the South-West county offers plenty of off-grid experiences.
There are so many places to switch off and explore nature in peace. From the Jurassic Coastline with its rugged beaches to the wide open moors of Dartmoor National Park. If you like to walk, you can spend days wandering the South West Coast Path, and if swimming is more your thing, there are plenty of wild swimming spots scattered through Dartmoor.
For history lovers, there’s Agatha Christie’s holiday home at Greenway or Okehampton Castle.
