Alyn Owen, who runs second-hand goods business LOOT with partner Daisy, said he was shocked after returning home and finding the road shut.
Speaking to WalesOnline, he said: « I found the road closed due to a large fire at the Old Greys Ford building in Pontllanfraith, Blackwood.
« Multiple fire engines were on site, and thick smoke was billowing from the top of the building.
« Over time, the building began collapsing, with the roof falling in.
« While the fire hadn’t spread directly, the family in the neighboring house decided to evacuate for safety.
« Many onlookers are gathered outside the cordon.
« This appears to be a major incident, starting centrally and spreading.
« Additionally, there’s a welding supply shop next door and a petrol station on the other side, both adding significant risk due to flammable materials.
« There’s a lot of anxiety in the local area right now. »
