A man is accused of adopting a sick trick in order to gain access to a shop toilet before sexually assaulting a young girl. Robert Kevin DeWeese reportedly attacked the six-year-old shortly after her mother stepped away from the toilet door.
According to prosecutors in Ohio, US, the 37-year-old sexually assaulted the girl in a locked toilet at the Union Township Store, near South Lebanon, on Friday, February 6. The victim was using the toilet when her mother stepped away from the door and told her to only open it if she heard the « special knock ». However, DeWeese, who overheard the signal, allegedly mimicked the knock to gain access to the toilet and attack her.
As reported by Fox 19, he has been charged with two counts of rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition, and single counts of kidnapping and abduction. A grand jury has also labelled him a sexually violent predator.
The girl reportedly screamed following the attack and DeWeese fled the scene. Her mother was just 40ft away at the time, authorities say.
She called 911 straight away before DeWeese was arrested at a relative’s house. The mother said in the call: « My daughter was in the bathroom. She had an accident. I went to see if I could go find her alternate clothing while she was in the bathroom.

David Fornshell, Warren County Prosecutor, said on social media: « What are the odds that this happens at the exact time a serial sexual offender is in the store and eavesdropping with his ear to the door of the family bathroom? » He added: « Someone like this should remain permanently separated from society. »
DeWeese was convicted in 2021 for raping a child younger than 13. His lengthy criminal record dates back almost 20 years.
