A paedo former mayor who had sex with her son’s teenage friend tried to cause a fight between the two boys in order to avoid the blame, a court has heard.
Misty Roberts, 43, could face up to 17 years in prison when she is sentenced next month for sexually abusing a 16-year-old at a pool party. The victim told the court about a « big argument » that occurred after the disgraced ex-mayor was caught in bed with the boy, and how she then tried to cause an altercation.
Roberts’ furious son confronted the pair, claiming he even recorded the act in an upstairs « bonus room ». However, instead of taking responsibility, the mum allegedly tried to blame the boy, reports The Sun.
Pointing at the 16-year-old, she shouted at her son: « Go fight your friend. He’s the one who did it! »
Roberts was found guilty in less than an hour by the jury for indecent behaviour and carnal knowledge of a minor, commonly classed as statutory rape, yesterday.
The former mayor of DeRidder, a town in Louisiana, home to nearly 10,000 people, will be required to register as a sex offender.

The court also heard how Roberts was heavily intoxicated from booze at the house party on July 20, 2024, before leading her son’s teenage friend upstairs.
Court documents allege that Roberts locked the door before kissing the boy on the sofa.
« She exposed her breasts while kissing [the boy] in the locked bonus room, » the documents continue.
They also mentioned that “she sat on top of [the boy] on the couch in the bonus room as depicted in the photograph taken by the defendant’s son ».
Roberts’ defence attorney Adam Johson admitted that a snap of a bikini-clad Roberts straddling the teen in the locked room was a “real bad look”.
Though he contested that “It would not have happened without alcohol”.
Before adding: “Trying to be the cool parent in a divorce is stupid,” in reference to her 2022 split from ex-husband Duncan Clanton.
Prosecutor Charles Robinson showed a “lewd and lascivious” photograph of the divorcee on top of the boy to the six-man jury before they retired to deliberate.
