Norovirus outbreak leaves passengers on Coral Princess vomiting and with diarrhoea | World | News

More than 80 passengers have endured vomiting and diarrhoea as a bug sparks three weeks of Norovirus hell aboard a cruise ship.

Passengers began feeling ill as the Princess Cruises liner was travelling across the US from California to Florida, as part of a three-week journey.

Of 1,906 travellers onboard, 69 reported falling sick, while 13 of the 895 crew also fell ill, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US (CDC).

The ship departed Los Angeles on 21 February on a cruise visiting Mexico and the Panama Canal before docking on Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to CruiseMapper.

People who were impacted by the virus were isolated, and cleaning and disinfecting processes were increased to help contain the outbreak.

It is the second Norovirus outbreak this year for the Coral Princess, following cases reported in January, according to the health agency.
