Mum ‘violently’ killed her kids, 11 and 14, while husband away on business trip | World | News

A mother « violently » killed her two children while her husband was away on a business trip, police have revealed. Monika Rubacha, 44, was found dead by police alongside both of her children, Josh James, 14, and Emma James, at their $1.7million (£1.3million) home in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, on Thursday (February 26).

Ms Rubacha’s husband, Richard James, was on a business trip in South America when he contacted local authorities to check on his house after he had not heard from his family for more than a day. Officers arrived at the house at around 8.30pm on Thursday to discover three dead bodies with visible « traumatic » injuries, police said. « Right away, you could tell something wasn’t right, » Sheriff spokesperson, Randy Warren, said. « There were signs of homicidal violence. »

An investigation into their deaths is underway, with police confirming that Ms Rubacha had killed each of her children in separate rooms before killing herself. However, the exact cause of their deaths has not yet been determined, the medical examiner said. Police have said no one else was involved in the incident.

« I can tell you that this is a violent scene, » Mr Warren added. « It’s horrible to even imagine what would have been going through the mind of this mother that led up to this. »

He said the family of four moved to the area around three years ago, adding that there were no previous incidents linked to the address.

This comes after Ian Huntley’s daughter, Samantha Bryan, 27, spoke out after the Soham killer was attacked at HMP Frankland in Durham on Thursday (February 26). Ms Bryan said « there’s a special place in hell » for Huntley and that she started to cry with « an overwhelming sense of relief, » thinking her father had died.

She said being Huntley‘s daughter was a « heavy burden » and she felt he had died. Ms Bryan said her mum, Katie Bryan, phoned her to tell her the news of the attack. She said: « I got very emotional. There’s a special place in hell waiting for him. »

Katie Bryan, who was in a relationship with Huntley when she was 15, told The Sun on Sunday she thought he got what he deserved and hoped he would burn in hell. Her comments came not long after Huntley’s own mother reportedly said a part of her hoped he would die.
