M&S spring fashion range includes ‘bargain of the season’

Marks and Spencer’s spring range looks so expensive despite it’s purse-friendly price (Image: Marks & Spencer)

Marks and Spencer seems to have had a major revamp in the last few years, and I genuinely can’t get enough. It’s rapidly becoming my go-to place to shop, striking the perfect balance between stylish, trend-led pieces and timeless staples, all with that M&S quality we know and love and at prices that don’t feel eye-watering. A lot of this shift has been credited to Topshop’s former fashion director stepping into the role of director of womenswear at M&S in 2022. Since then, the brand’s offering (particularly in womenswear) has expanded in a way that feels cool yet inclusive, catering to a wide range of ages while staying bang on trend. Crucially, though, these are pieces that feel like the kind you can reach for year after year, rather than throwaway buys.

This spring season is no exception. In fact, I’ve been genuinely surprised at just how many gorgeous pieces are on offer right now. And I’m clearly not alone: M&S shoppers have been quick to praise the range, with some describing items as “looking more expensive” than they are, and others even calling certain finds the “bargain of the season.”

Of course, there are some higher-priced pieces in the mix, especially within the brand’s premium collections like Autograph, but there are also plenty of standout bargains if you know where to look. As a shopping editor, I spend a lot of time combing through new-in sections across fashion and homeware brands, so I took on the very serious task of pulling together my must-buys from the M&S spring drop. The best part? Everything I’ve picked comes in under £50, so you can refresh your wardrobe without blowing your budget.

But, if you don’t like my picks, you can browse the full new-in for spring range at M&S here.

Faux Leather Pinched Mini Tote Bag – £20

Small bucket bag from M&S

The bag has been called the ‘bargain’ of the season by a shopper (Image: Marks and Spencer)

This bag genuinely stopped me in my tracks the moment I saw it. My first thought was that it looks far more expensive than its £20 price tag, and it turns out I’m not the only one who thinks so.

One shopper who bought the bag said: “Purchased this bag in mushroom for my holiday. It’s so small looking, but plenty of space inside. It also looks expensive, but at £20 it is my bargain of the season. Love it.”

It comes in three colours: buttermilk (a soft yellow), mushroom (a beige-taupe shade, though currently sold out), and a classic black. The design has a modern bucket shape with an open top, though it’s smaller than your typical bucket bag, measuring 17 x 29 x 9.5cm. Some shoppers have pointed out that the compact size makes it ideal for occasions like weddings, though others were surprised it wasn’t bigger. As one review put it: “Looked bigger in photo, so very small.”

In terms of details, it has two pinched top handles for hand carrying, a magnetic press-stud fastening, and a smaller zipped compartment inside for valuables. There’s also an adjustable multi-strap, so you can switch things up and wear it over the shoulder or as a crossbody.

Pure Cotton Striped Midi Cami Dress – £45

Striped M&S dress

With warmer days on the horizon, a good throw-on dress is worth its weight in gold. It’s the easiest way to look polished with minimal effort, and this blue pinstripe cami dress does exactly that. The A-line skirt and tie belt at the waist give it a really put-together feel, and at £46, it feels like a real bargain.

It actually reminded me of a now sold-out sundress—the Mia Midi Dress—from Damson Madder that dropped last summer. While there are some differences, the fitted bodice, A-line skirt, and similar pinstripe pattern definitely echo that same aesthetic. The most obvious difference, of course, is the price: the Damson Madder version came in at £90 full-price.

One of the standout features for me is the choice of lengths—petite, regular, and tall—which makes a huge difference, especially if, like me, you’re on the shorter side (I’m 5’2). It’s made from 100% cotton and is machine washable up to 40C.

Pure Cotton Textured High Waisted Wide Leg Jeans – £40

Spring textured jeans

Marks and Spencer has long been my go-to for jeans, and that’s down to both their quality and their inclusive sizing and length options. These Pure Cotton Textured High Waisted Wide Leg Jeans are a perfect example; they come in extra short, short/petite, regular, long, and extra long, and are available in sizes 8 through to 24.

A white or cream pair of jeans is a spring and summer essential for me. They’re ideal for the in-between weather when you’re ready to embrace lighter colours, but it’s still too cool for bare legs. They’re also incredibly versatile, easy to style for work, a casual day out, or even dressed up for the evening.

During the day, I’d pair them with a striped tee and ballet flats; come evening, swap in a silky halter neck and heels with some pretty gold accessories. The wide-leg cut feels very on-trend and flattering as it isn’t clingy, while the high waist helps define your shape. They fasten with a classic button and zip.

V-Neck Ruffle Detail Long Sleeve Blouse – £36

M&S Chiffon blouse

The butter yellow trend is back for another year (Image: M&S)

Nothing says spring quite like butter yellow. It was everywhere last summer, and from the looks of things, it’s not going anywhere soon. This chiffon-style blouse taps perfectly into the trend but feels wearable and versatile.

It could work just as easily for weekend drinks as it would for the office. The floaty, slightly sheer fabric gives it an elegant, flattering feel, and I really like that it comes with a matching cami insert underneath, so you don’t have to worry about it feeling too revealing.

It’s currently available in sizes 6 through to 20.

Pure Cotton Cropped Utility Jacket – £55

Beige utility jacket

This is my slightly cheeky addition, as it just creeps over the £50 mark—but honestly, the extra £5 feels completely justified when you see how expensive it looks.

Even as we move into warmer months, a jacket is still a must in the UK, and this one feels like the perfect lightweight layer. I absolutely love the Pure Cotton Cropped Utility Jacket. It leans into 2026’s high-neck collar trend, which was all over Copenhagen Fashion Week back in January.

The cropped cut gives it a modern, flattering shape that instantly pulls an outfit together, whether you’re pairing it with jeans or a floaty skirt. The zip-through front feels a bit more casual, while the buttoned pockets add a bit of structure. The light sage colour is another win as it’s a light neutral that feels like a natural step away from winter’s darker tones.

Made from pure cotton, it comes in sizes 8 through to 24 and feels like an item you’d reach for again and again, no matter the season.
