Despite knowing little about tennis upon their first match, when the ATP tour resumed following the Covid pandemic, Riddle became a fixture on the road with Fritz. The 28-year-old has documented life on tour and become a central figure pushing the sport to new fans, and the subject of talk on tennis outlets.
« Dumped: Sourced [sic] say that Taylor Fritz has DUMPED his longtime [sic] Morgan Riddle, » claimed US Open Beyond the Baseline.
Riddle quickly set the record straight by commenting: « @Taylor_fritz damn did you know about this? » with a laughter emoji.
The Instagram account highlighted the comment on their Instagram story and thanked Riddle for putting them right.
She hit out at someone suggesting she looked pregnant by uploading a picture of herself on social media wearing a shoulderless blue top with blue trousers. Beneath the picture, she uploaded a screengrab that said: « It’s a boy, » and she added: « This is why every influencer is on ozempic or has an ED (eating disorder). »
Riddle then uploaded another selfie with the caption « God forbid a girl has organs. » In a third post, she could be seen standing by a swimming pool with a view of a harbour, with another screengrab of a troll commenting: « I thought pregnant. »
Riddle has also been left frustrated by tennis broadcasters and authorities. She no longer Vlogs courtside.
“I’ve gotten multiple copyright strikes against my account when I post videos of him, » she said. « In the last three years, the tournaments and the tour have gotten really strict with where you can film and where you can’t. I’m not allowed to have a camera in the box anymore, whereas a couple of years ago, none of those rules were in place.
“The people who make those decisions are thinking one way, and I’m thinking, ‘Okay, think about the fan girls, the people who create memes’. That’s what builds a cult following in a sport. It’s frustrating, and it’s archaic.”
