A woman who was forced into having sex with a « very large number » of men over three decades said « I am free » after the individual who coerced her was arrested. Rodney Johnston, aged 67, of HMP Norwich, was found guilty of multiple offences including three counts of procuring a woman to have sexual intercourse by threats or intimidation, two counts of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of intimidation of a witness.
The jury reached its verdicts following an eight-week trial in September. Jurors were unable to reach a verdict on a charge of rape which will lie on file. His victim, who has a legal right to lifelong anonymity, said she was now trying to rebuild her life, adding: “For the first time in decades I am free.”
