Meghan Markle makes bold ‘crisis comms’ move after staff walk out | Royal | News

The Duchess of Sussex has rehired a public relations firm she first used as an actress, following the departure of a staff member in her PR team last December, reports claim. Meghan Markle has rehired Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis (SSML), and the development follows the departure of Mereditch Maines, the Sussexes’ chief communications officer.

Meredith was the couple’s 11th PR officer in just five years, and rather than risk another, Meghan and Prince Harry decided to revert to a known entity. A source told the Telegraph: « SSML has been working on projects off and on with the Duke and Duchess since 2017. Sunshine is currently working alongside their internal team on As Ever and with the couple on efforts specifically in the US. »

When the couple took a six-week break from royal duties in late 2019, the Duchess met with Keleigh Thomas Morgan as she planned the US launch of the Sussex Royal Foundation, which later became known as Archewell. Ms Morgan is now a partner at the firm, Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis.

The PR firm’s client list has also included Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Lopez and Michael Jackson’s family.

Meghan also launched a one-off Christmas holiday episode, which aired in December.

The Duchess of Sussex also launched her podcast titled ‘Confessions of a Female Founder’, in collaboration with Lemonada Media in spring 2025.

She interviewed female business leaders, exploring their entrepreneurial journeys, struggles, and successes, while also sharing insights from her own venture.

The podcast, produced by Archewell Audio and Lemonada Media, aimed to provide authentic stories behind scaling businesses but received mixed reviews.
