Mediterranean island is home to one of Europe’s least crowded beaches | Europe | Travel

Sun-seekers who can’t wait for summer to roll around can enjoy a great escape over Easter and indulge in the peace and quiet of one beach you wouldn’t expect. Travel experts at Wizz Air have looked into the least crowded beaches in Europe, as well as the top temperatures for April, and have uncovered hidden gems and overlooked spots for spring. Determining the beaches, they analysed over 50 European countries’ top beaches, and one particular place came as a surprise. Playa d’en Bossa in Ibiza, Spain, came second on the list of least crowded  beaches in Europe for April, making it a top spot to visit this Easter. As the longest beach in Ibiza, there’s a lot of space available for tourists to relax in the sunshine in their own private spot.

The area averages temperatures of 16C in April, with highs of 19C and 10 long hours of sunshine each day. Not to mention, those holidaying can soak up the sea, sun and beautiful surroundings without the rush of the busier months. András Rado, head of communications at WizzAir, said, “There are countless hidden coastal gems that often go unnoticed. At Wizz Air, we’re passionate about helping travellers discover these lesser-known treasures, from secluded coves in Croatia to sandy stretches in Albania, away from the crowds.”

While Ibiza, which is less than three hours from the UK, is famous for its partying, clubs and DJ sets, what’s often overlooked is its pristine beaches and clear waters, and Playa d’en Bossa has both of those things. While this beach is considered to be your best bet for a peaceful day, Ibiza is home to numerous beautiful beaches.

The Mediterranean island boasts beaches such as Las Salinas, with shallow waters ideal for families, and Cala Jondal, a great place for celebrity spotting and sipping on sangria at its many beach bars.

Other spots considered to be secluded with a tranquil atmosphere are Cala Saladeta, a smaller, more tucked-away beach ideal for snorkelling, as well as Cala Olivera, which offers a more natural setting with unspoilt sands.

WizzAir also found Nissi Beach, in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, to be one of the most people-free beaches in Europe this April while also boasting high temperatures. Despite being one of Cyprus’s most popular beaches, it stands large at 600 metres in length, providing plenty of space for tourists to sunbathe and go for a swim.

Another top destination from their findings is a pristine beach along the French Riviera. Plage de Pampelonne is located close to the idyllic village of Ramatuelle and has temperatures reaching 17 degrees in April. While it’s known for its glitz and glamour, it’s also home to quieter spaces fit for families to unwind in the sunshine.
