Man Utd handed nightmare suspension blow as four stars ruled out of next match | Football | Sport

Manchester United have been dealt a new selection setback ahead of their next Premier League match, against Aston Villa. The blow came during their thrilling 4-4 draw with Bournemouth. Ruben Amorim’s side were unable to seal victory as they dropped points at home once again.

By the 60th minute, United found themselves trailing 3-2 at Old Trafford in their bid to extend their unbeaten run to four matches. United initially took the lead with an Amad header, only for Antoine Semenyo to level the score for Bournemouth before half-time.

A header from Casemiro put United back in front just before the break, but the Reds quickly lost their advantage with goals from Evanlison and Marcus Tavernier for the visitors. Bruno Fernandes then brought United level with a free-kick in the 77th minute, before Matheus Cunha put United ahead shortly after.

Bournemouth managed to draw level when Eli Junior Kroupi made it 4-4. Tavernier’s earlier goal was the result of a direct free-kick, awarded following a foul by Casemiro on the Bournemouth forward.

Referee Simon Hooper showed Casemiro a yellow card for the challenge, marking his seventh in the league this season but his fifth individual caution, excluding the two yellows he received in the victory over Chelsea in September.

Consequently, Casemiro will now serve a one-match ban, ruling the Brazilian out of the weekend’s away game at Aston Villa.

United will be without the services of Amad, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui for the upcoming match, as they are participating in the Africa Cup of Nations for their respective nations. In addition to this, manager Amorim was unable to include Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt in the squad for the Bournemouth clash due to injury concerns.

With Casemiro absent, Amorim will decide whether to turn to Kobbie Mainoo or Manuel Ugarte.

The England international came on for Casemiro against Bournemouth, but at that moment, United were chasing the game, and a defensive option such as Ugarte may be preferred against Unai Emery’s outfit.
