Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea learn Julian Alvarez transfer stance | Football | Sport

Just two years after leaving the Premier League, Julian Alvarez is attracting attention from some of England’s biggest clubs. The striker impressed during his two seasons with Manchester City, helping them win two Premier League titles and a Champions League.

However, Alvarez’s minutes were somewhat limited, given Erling Haaland was the clear first choice in the striker department. As such, the Argentine decided to leave for pastures new, eventually penning a big-money move to Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga outfit paid £81million for Alvarez’s signature, and after a decent couple of campaigns in Spain, talk of a move away from the Madrid-based outfit has surfaced. Arsenal have been mooted as serious contenders in the past, despite splashing the cash on Viktor Gyokeres earlier this season.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also being mentioned in conversations, with the pair also keen on exploring options for attackers when the summer transfer window rolls around.

However, Premier League clubs may find themselves left wanting, given Alvarez’s preference is said to be elsewhere. The reason why he left City was that he wanted to play regular football, but I think Pep Guardiola would be very happy to have him back in the squad.”

That’s because it’s being reported by Spanish outlet Sport that Alvarez’s preference is said to be with Barcelona, should a move materialise. That could prove difficult though, given Atletico are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £100m, if they’re to allow Alvarez to leave in the summer.

It’s suggested that Alvarez is aware of interest coming from the Premier League, and wouldn’t necessarily turn down a move to one of the division’s clubs. But, the 26-year-old would favour a move to the Camp Nou instead, with Barcelona said to be interested in the marksman.

If Alvarez was to join Barcelona, it would leave ex-Arsenal ace Emmanuel Petit disappointed, given the Frenchman has urged his former club to sign the World Cup winner. Speaking to Ignition Casino, he said: “When Julian Alvarez was playing for Manchester City, I really liked him.

“He didn’t start every single game but every time he played for City, and for Atletico as well since, he has been really special. He can score goals and give assists, but he’s got temper, personality, and character. I think in terms of movement he is very intelligent. Physically as well, he’s a top player and technically, he’s got everything to suit the best clubs in Europe.
