Traffic has been stopped in both directions on a busy section of the M5 due to a « police incident ». Motorway camera footage shows traffic chaos, with cars bumper-to-bumper and at a total standstill.
The police incident is occurring between Junction 19 near the A369, Martcombe Road, in Portishead, and Junction 18 onto the M49. The exact nature of the incident is unknown. Traffic monitoring site Inrix, which said: « All traffic is being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to a police incident on the M5 in both directions from J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) to J18 M49. Just prior to 12:15 all traffic was held. »
